The Cloud Engineer is responsible for integration and implementation of the public cloud infrastructure. The Cloud Engineer will adhere to internal team standards and processes as well as documentation for the design, implementation, operations, and accreditation of COTS infrastructure management solutions. The Cloud Engineer will build and integrate new systems and assist in the migration of applications, COTS, GOTS, and FOSS products to public cloud resources; provide technical recommendations of infrastructure solutions; implement the solution(s) required to fulfill business requirements; and support development, integration, test and validation activities to prove system effectiveness, performance, and readiness during critical test events.
-Support the design and maintenance of the enterprise-wide baseline of operating systems and software.
-Provide input on design, implementation, operations, user guides, and training materials.
-Perform support and training for engineering and operations staff as required.
-Perform development and integration of Operating System and COTS/FOSS for custom in-house developed products.
-Perform full integration of DevOps tools that support continuous integration and continuous delivery, to include Jenkins, GitHub and Artifactory.
-Provide appropriate input on evaluation, selection, implementation and maintenance of IT systems.
-Review and provide input to policies and standard operating procedures.
-Perform other related duties as assigned.
-Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant major from an accredited college or university with 5+ years of continuous and progressive experience.
-Must have experience with development, maintenance, and operations of Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Azure based solutions.
-Must have strong experience with programming in one or more of shell scripting, Python, or Perl.
-Must have experience with system automation.
-Must be familiar with source and artifact control and configuration management, and be able to use applicable technologies.
-Relevant knowledge of current and emerging infrastructure technologies.
-Solid time management skills with the ability to plan, organize and implement multiple initiatives and deadline-driven workloads while consistently providing outstanding customer service.
-Detail-oriented, proactive self-starter demonstrating a positive, willing attitude and excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Proficient in cloud technologies, cloud storage and network systems.
-Must have experience planning, installing, configuring, patching, and troubleshooting issues on the following platforms: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2.
-Must have experience with virtualization technologies.
-Must have experience with fundamental storage concepts: filesystems, backup, cloning, snapshotting, logical volume management, disk encryption.
-Experienced in supporting project teams in all phases of development.
-Must have IT security focus; experience working on security-centric solutions helpful.
-AWS Certifications is a plus.
-Knowledge of AWS GovCloud is a plus.
-Familiarity with AWS Cloud Formation is a plus.
